In Japan, it’s Cat Day!
That’s because 2 (二)in Japanese is pronounced “ni”, and the sound that cat’s make is ニャ(“nya”).
That makes today’s date 2/22 (technically, 二月二十二日 or 2月22日(“nigatsu nijuuninichi”), but
possibly ににに(“ni ni-ni”) close enough to
“nya-nya-nya” to count.
Yes, it’s a stretch, but it’s been Cat Day since 1986.
