Moving
The Yamasa Institute is a not-for-profit organization, which receives funds from the Hattori Foundation. One of the companies connected with this foundation is Artec, which makes bentos (prepackaged lunches) without chemical flavoring for institutions like hospitals and schools. They also sell some in the lobby at Yamasa.
I bought one today, for ¥540 ($4.74 at today's rate) after tax. It was delicious and substantial at 800+ calories.
That's lettuce, a salace, rice, fried chicken and potato, and behind the chicken is a bean salad ann another salad behind the potato. It was really good.
If you're not jealous yet, this is similar to Japanese school lunches. No pizza flips here! Delicious and healthy!
There is a coffee vending machine that makes a cup of tea, coffee or hot cocoa for only ¥100, and you can choose how dark you want your coffee, how much sugar and/or cream you want in it. It also does it faster and more quietly than the Keurig machines do. Hot matcha latte is a wonderful thing.
After school, I changed rooms at the dorm. Yesterday, the air conditioner stopped heating. The caretaker kindly lent me a space heater for the night, and today I moved across the hall to my new room.
When I told the school, they wanted to check it out and try to fix it at first. I suggested changing rooms, and after I assured them that it would be no problem for me, I got a key to my new room on the spot. Easy peasy!
